Playstation 4 or Xbox One :- Part 2 Empty Playstation 4 or Xbox One :- Part 2

Post by RIGHTEOUS SOUL Thu Jun 20, 2013 10:40 am

After the announcement by Microsoft last night,  has this changed anyone's opinion on which console they will be getting?
I am still getting both, but one will be on release and the other will still be a Christmas present.

PlayStation 4 for me. Mainly because it's a bit cheaper for me to get, really want Killzone, Driveclub for free with PS+ on day one, and I already have it preordered!!!!
Microsoft have done a really good thing. They have listened to the community and responded. Looking forward to opening it on Christmas day.

Playstation 4 or Xbox One :- Part 2 Empty Re: Playstation 4 or Xbox One :- Part 2

Post by Willow Thu Jun 20, 2013 7:20 pm

well I'm getting both, have now pre-ordered both

The gist I get from reading forums and such is many Xbox fans who were to get a PS4 are now going back to Xbox, however there are a few that are still annoyed with MS and will still get a PS4

Truth is MS brought it on themselves. My take is that MS thought Sony would go down the DRM road, if they had it would have not been so bad for them. Either way I've never seen such a PR disaster in my life!

At least now people can look forward to the games and not keep talking about system policies.

I am very undecided now.

I have to consider that the Xbox is more expensive but more of you guys are going to be getting it. I really like the look of Titanfall and I also love Halo.

However, the PS4 is cheaper, doesn't have to have a camera constantly connected to it to work (this may change for the xbox?), more powerful and also some of the games look really good as well. Killzone, Drive Club, Destiny (coming to both I know) etc and with PS+ you get so many free games (july you get BF3!!).

Tbh I am probably going to go with the console which the people that I play with are going to get the most which atm seems to be the Xbox One but who knows?

Also waiting to see if MS come out and announce a version of the Xbox without the Kinect which comes at roughly the same price if not cheaper than the PS4, if it does then that shall be the one that I get!

Saying that in the last paragraph, I just read this Sad

Shame really as the kinect doesn't really bother me at all and if I was going to get an Xbox One it wouldn't be much use to me as my room is quite small so lots of the gesturing aspects and movement would be pointless!

Playstation 4 or Xbox One :- Part 2 Empty Re: Playstation 4 or Xbox One :- Part 2

Post by Shifty McNinja Fri Jun 21, 2013 12:56 am

I had my preorder for my XBox well before E3, and didn't change it. I am sad that they have backtracked, I see exactly what they were trying to do, and I have found an article that i will post on the Xbone threads that says what I wanted to say to willow all the way through our dance over the Xbox haters lol.

I really was looking forward to having some of you guys on my shared library (only got like 28 friends on my list now lol) and seeing what you guys thought of the game, then if I wanted to still play said game, I could to. Now If i lend my game out, I can't play it till I get it back.

Mike bud the new kinnect is super advanced and you do not have to be anywhere near as far away from the screen as the original, it is designed to work in a lot of spaces confined or otherwise.  It is 1080p and just think when we are all playing and you really fancy saying somethinng to a mate..you just say XBOX skype Willow, then I have the little man on the right of my screen as we still continue to play, for me that could be precious at times.

I also read to that the xbox will be able to use the processors in the kinnect too for tasks if it is not being used, but not sure how true this is.

Anyone see that Sony have panicked a little and are considering taking the PS4 to £300..that could be a game changer, but for me I hope they do it and M$ follow suit lol.

I did read somewhere though that SOny really couldn't go any lower than the price they set for E3, and breathed a  sigh of relief when they heard of the Xbone Pricing.

personally MS could not have gone lower as they cant keep having these losses like on 360 when most of the other departments are under fire from rivals.

I would love to see a proper Kinect game that is not some silly gimmick, but truth is there are none! I think MS should release a Xbox One without Kinect, I personally do not want Kinect and probably wont use it anyway like my current one which I've used 2 or 3 times!

Why do people just see kinnect for games,  it is going to be so much more than that.

you say you won't use kinnect, but you bought the thing in the first place, so the idea had some appeal to you when it first came out. And i am assuming you bought the first xbox cam too..

How is this ANY different from those two, other than the fact it now comes bundled with the xbox, and has way more potential than it's previous incarnations.

I'l be honest buying Kinect was a mistake.

To be fair to MS I will see how it works before I decide on this new one, but saying xbox on and off is hardly revolutionary, as I used voice commands in one of the Halo games, anniversary I think it was

Yes I do have the original xbox 360 camera as well don't use it, neither do I use PS Move on PS3 which came with a camera

we will find out soon enough if the next gen versions fare any better, I'm sceptical but I want to be proved wrong

Playstation 4 or Xbox One :- Part 2 Empty Re: Playstation 4 or Xbox One :- Part 2

Post by Shifty McNinja Sun Jun 23, 2013 12:48 am

It's not about saying on and off, it's about being able to call someone up midgame, or watch a movie mid game or mid call.

I am sorry willow, I know it seems I always disagree with you, but I can't see how people can be making comments like 'but saying xbox on and off is hardly revolutionary'  without even mentioning any of it's other purposes

It will be there for so much more than that, and I wish people would just take time to really fully understand something before they have to knock it.

I realise it is the 'in thing' right now to hate MS but I do think that between Sony and themselves, they are the most forward thinking company.

Have not heard one moan about the fact the PS4  would appear to be a social media hub that plays games..

Oh yeah, that could be because I see what Sony are trying to do and leaving it at that.

A Good example for me with the new box and kinnect...

I was playing on metro last light last night, and the Mrs brought in my dinner (mighty nice of her), at that point I thought  would be nice to just chuck a film on of something while we eat..

SO I had to get all the controls, turn the channel, find something to watch etc, this took a fair amount of time.

Now wouldn't it of just been so much nicer to say'xbox live tv' or 'xbox Lovefilm' or failing that 'xbox (whatever film I have on my HDD)'.

Please look past the obvious people and start digging deeper.

I do agree though, there haven't been any good kinnect games out. I bought steel battalion and it was a dissapointment.

I thought the TV bit will not be working in the UK at launch? TVii on Wii u still does not work!

The TV bit does not really interest me, I think part of the problem is MS have not explained it properly and that's why people are complaining.
Personally myself I don't really use any of the apps on the 360, don't bother with you tube or sky, use them on my pc.

I hope we can agree on this one thing I will now mention, that MS simply have not explained the Kinect properly, maybe some advantages will be seen in a years time?

For me its all about the games and xbox One looks set to have some great ones!

They explained the kinect perfectly well at the consoles reveal willow! They made it perfectly clear that the kinect will be heavily used for pretty much everything but the games atm!

I use apps, and prefer sky on my 360 to my pc as it is on a 43" screen.

Yes they I will agree they haven't really gone into how kinnect can improve games,  but with it's much improved fidelty and accuracy I am hoping that the kind of things they attempted in steel battalion will be helpful instead of downright frustrating.

I would use the voice commands for tv, skype etc.

You are right willow, only the US will have tv on launch. but I can't see it being long before companies over here see it as a way to increase there subscriber base.

|As foir the games yes I am very excited, I cannot wait to get into Dead rising 3, people are complaining that it has lost some of its blatant hilarity, but I do prefer my zombie games to be fairly dark and realistic to a point.

Also it is coop, but as I will only have the one console, I will have to watch the mrs play it I think lol.

I have the original Dead Rising, never thought much of it in all honesty.

Not sure about anyone else but I've cut back on games purchases for current consoles. I believe the main improvement with the next consoles is much more memory!

Been playing Fallout 3 on PS3, frame rate is terrible crashed many times. Lack of memory I think was responsible, I'm also hoping dashboard on Xbox One will be quick, not dead slow like on 360. I think that was a case of trying to squeeze too much out of limited hardware.

I enjoyed the first dead rising. Something new and running round hitting zombies in the face with a frying pan was just too much fun! The 2nd was good but not as good but I did like the combo weapons, putting a drill and a bucket together to make a drill hat which would drill into the zombies head was just too much fun!

3 should be much better than 2 though as it is a bigger map and there should be much more things for you to do then give your daughter medicine every 20 minutes!
