Sub HD again? Empty Sub HD again?

Its a question that keeps going round

seems like a week does not go by without people saying this game or that game wont run at 1080p on xbox One or PS4 (what I say applies to both systems)

I've always kept my expectations about next gen in check because I know that the £60 graphics chips in next gen consoles was never going to outperform my last graphics card let alone the new one.

this 1080p / 60fps expectation the "Gold standard" if you will, is going to be very difficult to get on the new consoles, yes some games will make it and some will go down to 30fps.

But its the 720p games that bother me, apparently BF4 is 720p, so is Killer Instinct and Dead Rising 3 (which currently has frame rate issues) and Microsoft's Ryse is 900p. I expected games to go down to just below 1080p not drop to 720p!

Carmack of ID software was right, looks like this gen will be 1080p at 30fps, or maybe 720p 60fps. Also remember that most games developed now would have started on incomplete development kits, so like I said its going to be next year before the true next gen games arrive.

To be fair it does look like we will have a few 1080p games on these new consoles, just not as many as I would have liked. 360 had a couple like Rayman origins and the new one 1080p/60 they were so was Virtua Tennis 3 (but that sacrificed graphics for that resolution)

Having played games on PC running though my TV at 1080p you can tell the difference between 720p and 1080p even more if frame rate is 60 fps.

I can imagine a game like Fallout would be good for 1080p then run at 30fps as it wont need a high frame rate like a BF or COD game.

I expect many people will be disappointed with next gen at least at the start, law of diminishing returns has kicked in now which is why they announce all the other things the systems do less talk of graphics

Pretty sure the human eye finds it hard to see any change in framerate after 30fps, so not being 60 fps means nothing to me, other than the fact you may get the odd spot of slowdown.

I think you can tell between 30 and 60, games like Skyrim and fallout feel so much better on PC and plenty of other games are like that as well.

To be honest its best stable 30 than say the frame rate at 60 then keeps dropping to 20 ish and going back up

check it up, I am pretty sure 30 fps is the main speed for the human eye. either that or I iwll do a spot of research myself methinks.

from what I can tell, 60 FPS is not a major difference, but it does make the game look smoother, so you can detect it.
