COD sales DOWN! Empty COD sales DOWN!

well that's a surprise Laughing Laughing Laughing

Read this article http://www.eurogamer.net/articles/2013-11-09-the-fall-and-rise-of-the-franchise-titans

Activision seem to be great at one thing making a franchise huge then milk them so much the die a death (Tony Hawks and Guitar Hero series)

Gist is people are increasingly fed up of COD and the main problem is that IW are not the same company they once were. After all more or less ALL the major talent left and are now working on a little known game for EA called Titan Fall. That is the TRUE sequel to Call of Duty.

What have Activision got now? A "new" COD engine that is a complete mess that is probably not finished and certainly not optimised and not even any more players on next gen or PC! 18 on PC and next gen? COD WAW had like 40 players on PC!

I think BF3 seriously damaged the COD franchise by showing it up, they built an new engine for next gen DX11, optimised it, and were ready to roll for the new systems.

they like to blame new systems, why not wait until they are released then release the games?

and they are down http://www.shopto.net/news/44609/Call-of-Duty-Ghosts-sales-fall-by-50-percent/?utm_source=twitterfeed&utm_medium=facebook

50% down and that INCLUDES PS4 sales as well! So ONLY Xbox One version not included. You don't have to be psychic to realise then the XBO version would have to sell amazingly well to pick up the slack which at a guess I don't think they will

Looks like Activision have egg on the faces http://www.computerandvideogames.com/437439/uk-chart-call-of-duty-ghosts-is-3rd-biggest-launch-of-2013/

GTA5 and Fifa 14 outsold the new COD games such as Fifa are also appearing on next gen! I suspect GTA5 will as well. So much for biggest launch of the year, Activision were publicly bragging they would outsell GTA5 and they have not.

I would say that while the new systems killed some sales, years of bad talk of COD and competition getting much stronger have serious weakened the COD series.

One generations most popular game is not always the most popular next!

the article bout the original CoD is spot on and hits the nail on the head regarding why i lost my interest in the franchise.

i would love to see a WW1 version of CoD, back to basics time boys!

I like your thinking of a WW1 CoD Sturm, but..... I swear WW1 was trench fighting. I think the prospect of sitting there all day, getting wet and muddy and occasionally killing off your character by going over the top would appeal to many people?

Not surprised, BF4 being so strong this year and BF3 doing well for so long and being so popular. GTA5 doing what it did. Wouldn't be surprised to see CoD sales up next year against this year though!

you could be doing missions across no mans land to attack enemy trenches, artillery missions, sapper missions (going underground below trenches to blow them up), hand to hand combat etc.

i think theres a lot of scope for a good game....
