Need a new TV Empty Need a new TV

Post by Willow Tue Sep 25, 2012 10:10 am

Well my Tv seems to be on life support, started making funny noises over the weekend now seems to take 30 + minutes to turn on now. Based on doing some searching on the net, this issue is common with Samsung TV's made in 2007-2009 ish, shame its a nice 4 year old TV. With 4 HDMI ports that I use, this years Samsung TV's only have 3 blast,so some swapping will be needed if I get another Samsung

I will need to get a new TV before Saturday, Boardwalk Empire is back on for the 3rd series! My PC monitor does have a HDMI imput so I can use that if my new TV has not arrrived by them

ordered a new TV now http://www.currys.co.uk/gbuk/sony-bravia-kdl-40hx753bu-full-hd-40-led-3d-tv-12309638-pdt.html

I usually go with Samsung HDTV's, but as they reduced the HDMI's to 3 from 4 on this years models it was bye bye from me. Used to just buy Sony TV's before Samsung anyway.

You dont get free glasses with sony models but I have ordered a pair anyway, nice to see what 3D looks like on PS3 games.

Spent the last few days looking at loads of different models of TV's, dont know why they sell so many different models and it can be difficult to see what each one has. I wanted one that featured all the features my current one has and I have found one and for a lesser cost as well!

very impressed with the new TV, its actually half as thick as my old Tv! Better picture quality and is much better at coping with faster movement. Fifa 13 was great on it, much easier to see what is going on than on my old tv.

Going to try 3D soon as I have quite a few 3D games on PS3!

3D glasses arrived today, I notice on games that have 3D an extra screen mentioning 3d appears. anyway tested Ratchet 3 and R&C all 4 one and wipeout in 3d, takes a while to adjust to 3d.

May have to turn down the 3D effect on ratchet 3 game does not seem as smooth in 3d.
Just tried Uncharted 3, not bad but games in 3d do seem to suffer flicker at bit and I'm sure performance seems to be hit.

I think a high end PC / next gen console / Bluray film ect would be better for 3d, dont really think current systems are powerfull enough to handle it.
