No idea how true this is due to the source, but have also heard on the flipside that MS is having problems with the performance of the memory.

I heard the performance of the memory had been put up and can in theory exceed the speed of PS4 memory, although that is only the 32 MB of ram they have to compensate for the slowness of the main memory, how well it will do for games that need loads of memory really quick remains to be seen.

My take is that the PS4 and Xbox One will be more or less the same power wise, they have the same amount of main memory and both use AMD processors and graphics chips, which should result in games being easy to develop and port from one system to the other, no PS3 development nightmare this generation!

No willow is right as far as im aware of. Both consoles have AMD cpu and gpu running with the x86 architecture so they are almost identical!

Nope man this is me and I have been following Xbox in detail it is an in house made 8 core processor. Both consoles use an amd gpu but Xbox does not use an amd CPU. Remember being worried about it bring ms made.

It is AMD processors with MS probably deciding what features the cpu has. Its only Nintendo that don't use AMD processors.
MS simply don't have anywhere to make there own processors

At the end of the day processors in Xbox One and PS4 while 8 core only have half the cpu power of a quad core i7! even though it has 2x as many cores!

'8 core microsoft custom CPU'.

read all about it, some journalist was invited into the place where they developed it, stress test, temp test etc.

When it comes to xbox guys, I leave no stone unturned...especially if I am going to be buying it lol.

MAybe AMD might produce it for MS, but it is microsoft desigend and tested, if AMD do anything it is only the fabrication of it, so wouldn't really class it as their cpu.

Just found this, looks like we were both right to a fashion Willow

"AMD is very excited to be working with Microsoft on their next-generation Xbox One," Saeid Moshkelani from AMD's Semi-Custom Business Unit said in a press release. "The Microsoft Xbox One leverages a single-chip, semi-custom AMD APU, with custom components co-developed with Microsoft designed to enable unique attributes of the system Microsoft is bringing to market."

you wont let it go will you Very Happy

But I read on Eurogamer it was AMD!

What is probably happening is they are taking a AMD CPU and customised it, which is where the customised comes from. Costs a fortune to develop a CPU from the ground up.
In truth they wont just take a CPU and dump it into a system, there will be optimisations to work better in the console like what happens on other consoles.

lets just say we were both right and leave it at that! Very Happy

I can't lol...
The most annoying thing is I can't find the article I read.

The team that designed the cpu included some bird that was head of the 3Do team when that came out..

so annoyed i didn't bookmark it now lol

After careful reading, It would appear that MS have developed the SOC that the CPU and GPU will be placed into..I think.

I read it somewhere in am interview with some guy from valve and he said (not exactly)"the next gen consoles are playing catch up with pc. Look at PS4 and Xbox one, they both are using AMD CPU's and GPU's"

one thing that should benefit everyone is the systems should be much easier to develop for.
