Blockbuster Video to close all stores report
A sad day indeed if reports are true http://www.computerandvideogames.com/439593/all-blockbuster-uk-stores-to-close-by-christmas-report-claims/
It was one of the stores I did visit to buy games, normally buy online now.
It was inevitable people don't really rent from stores anymore and the prices of games
I feel sorry for the 2000 people who are now likely to loose jobs before Christmas

Re: Blockbuster Video to close all stores report
The store I go past every day closed down the other day. Sad to see it go, had loads of posters up trying to get rid of loads of stock ASAP.
If the company moved with the times then they might have survived but they were stuck in the past and it hurt them.

True, I mean to start with if you were a member at one branch, you could rent from another ? I mean come on, how ludicrous.

Re: Blockbuster Video to close all stores report
will its official they will all now shut down http://www.eurogamer.net/articles/2013-12-12-blockbuster-to-close-all-remaining-uk-stores
well its the end of an era. In Macclesfield we had loads of video shops at one time, Bond Street video, Macc video and others then Blockbuster arrived in the 90's and the others closed
what shocked me was I read the other week they could have bought Netflix
The internet has revolutionised our lives but at what cost? its been devastating to towns and many stores, resulting in many job losses. and what I read about amazon working conditions makes mw worry about the slave labour conditions people have to work to
MS, Sony and Nintendo's console store prices are protecting shops at the moment, but they could easily adopt steam prices and destroy box sales like what has happened on PC.

Re: Blockbuster Video to close all stores report
went into my home store today, all the new stock had gone just a few games and DVD's.
No 360 / PS3 / PS4 / XBO or Blurays to buy. I would imagine suppliers take back stock right away so all they had was a load of PS2 and PSP titles
I never would have thought the internet would destroy jobs at this pace but it has. Its only because MS Sony and Nintendo price games high on the consoles stores and not like steam prices, they have not finished off retail console game sales!
Lets be honest retail is being protected at the moment because none of the 3 want stores not to stock there console and accessories in retaliation
