Digital future bad for gamers?

Don't usually read Now Gamer! but I did yesterday and found this article, quite interesting about the "digital future" sums up what I think really

The ability to update games and system software after release means games and now systems are being released without all features. The buggy BF4 really brought home how the patch it later attitude is damaging games.

As for price while the console manufacturers continue to protect retail with prices the same or higher than retain, there will be no Steam like crazy prices which send sales through the roof as they do on Steam sales such as the upcoming Christmas sale.
