General Chat June
another month gone by!
well I finished the single player story on Assassins Creed Revelations, just need to do the last Desmond story bit which is sort of optional, so I can fully enjoy AC3 now, been playing one or the other recently.
Been falling behind on my games, going to have to spend some time to finish a few during the quiet months.
I have cut back on game purchases on current consoles atm. Mostly spend on steam now until next gen systems arrive
I'm off to a Pet Shop Boys concert on the 20th of this month in Manchester which I'm looking forward to

I am off week after next, nothing fun planned like a concert or anything, As I won't be buying games and saving hard for the next gen I have joined lovefilm (the 1600 MS point Carrot might of helped too) so I get three rentals, currently got Metro Last light, NFSmW (2012) and assassins creed revelations.
never played much of the assassins creed games after the first one so should be interesting.

Re: General Chat June
Assassins creed games are good, I have all of them
In case anyone is wondering I don't deliberately try to find negative Xbox One stories its just that most of the info at the moment is negative, I'm sorry!
and here is another set of people MS have pissed off http://www.computerandvideogames.com/414717/xbox-one-is-a-sin-against-navy-service-members-according-to-serviceman/Â they make how much money out of military shooters and yet they want to screw them over!

they are not screwing them over, they can still play on their 360's when they are deployed and when they are back home they can use the xbox one.

Re: General Chat June
but they may want to play Xbox One? either way the Xbox One is currently a PR "disaster" CVG's latest poll shows http://www.computerandvideogames.com/414854/cvg-poll-ps4-four-times-more-popular-than-xbox-one/
71% for PS4 15% Xbox One says it all really and the UK is where Xbox is strong as well!
looks like sony is not charging for the auto update option on PS4 (it requires PS+ on PS3) http://www.computerandvideogames.com/414887/ps4-auto-updates-social-and-media-wont-require-ps-plus/
My advice to MS, stop the arrogance, change some of your policies. Xbox One is likely a great system but all this negativity, which I have never seen for a console before could seriously damage it.
Reality time, once games go digital only and we see the end of discs DRM will be standard, I suspect MS is trying to ease people into that "reality" which I understand. But its too soon and many people don't have fast enough broadband

Re: General Chat June
negativity damaging the console? PS4 is getting 3 pre-orders to the xbone's 2, and this is with all the negative press.
In the end most people will buy both consoles, and I am tired of hearing all the hate for MS ( I come to this site to escape all of the paranoid conspiracy theorists), and would like to see some constructive discussions about what BOTH consoles are bringing to the table, and how they are going to shape our next few gaming years.
None of the guys I work with are getting a PS4, all still sticking with the xbox, as they see what MS are trying to do, and maybe are just a little more laid back than other peeps out there.
There are aspects of the PS4 I really love, but the xbox to me does seem like the ultimate all in one package, I mean come on even ubisoft has said that the difference in power between the two consoles won't make much difference.
I think Sony does have the better attitude, but Microsoft have the  better vision.

Re: General Chat June
And  why are people mistaking MS for arrogant, they are going to allow you to access your game library ANYWHERE the DRM is an attempt to stifle any kind of piracy that will come of that feature.
If it is going to be anything like steam I am all for it, and the same goes for second hand trade ins, we need to get more money to developers and publishers, to then allow them to take the risk and not just concentrate on AAA games. And really push the envelope.

Re: General Chat June
I don't mind it being like steam, however steam does not require you to log in every 24hrs otherwise your games are useless!
I'm a fan of steam have 442 games on the platform, I know some people have said that its because of steams set up they are able to have really good deals on games.
don't forget with 2nd hand games developers have already been paid. Activision make loads of money out of COD but that has not made the series any better!
MS turned round the other day and said if you get banned you would loose ALL your games! then they retracted that statement, if that's not arrogant I don't know what is!
I think atm its more about perception of everything. I think we will only really know how things work once they have been released.

Re: General Chat June
personally I want the Xbox One to do well, we need a couple of strong selling consoles, for competition, which is good for the consumer.
My guess is that once the dust settles on the DRM stuff, Xbox One will sell well, it should do its got some good games in development, looking forward to Forza 5 the most!

Re: General Chat June
I agree, and also activision make loads of money out of COD as they now pretty much turn out a half arsed version every yearn and almost everyone still buys it (including me) only got the last one as my son did, and I did not enjoy it at all, I have not finished the campaigns on the last two and that used to be one of the things I used to love doing was just that. Â I want a really good WW2 shooter to come back now, feel the market is now saturated with 'modern warfare'.

Re: General Chat June
a lot of people felt the new COD does not look enough next generation. I think Battlefield 4 will seriously damage it this year.
For me Call of Duty 2 and Modern warfare 1 were the high points of the series. And I don't think that will change anytime soon!

I agree mate, and I also agree that from the vids I have seen of ghosts, it is not really for me again. I do much prefer battlefield and the team mechanic of its online play.

Re: General Chat June
we hear a lot about how much games sales have gone down in the last year or so. I just think people are fed up with the same thing again and again.
that's the problem with developers like EA or Activision, games cost a fortune to make and have to sell millions to break even so they take the easy route to just keep re selling the same thing over and over. They have become so big they cant take any gambles.
Unlike Indies which can make unique games cheaply and usually sell them online so cutting out having to make a disc, I bet some indie games make more money than some AAA games. On a £40 game how much would a developer make, about £5 I think!

Re: General Chat June
wish MS would hurry up with windows 8.1. Upgraded my laptop to windows 8 last year, it was alright for a while then it kept crashing again and again. It was solid on windows 7. No wonder Xbox One demos were on windows 7 and NVidia graphics chips!
The feature to re-boot the OS to new did not even work! Hopefully windows 8.1 will fix those problems!
downloading the new dlc for borderlands 2, why do consoles have to be so very SLOW at downloading stuff, its the same on any system, Nintendo, Sony or MS. If that game sharing feature was on xbox one probably would take a whole day to download a game! Although I assume MS would update the download speed, well they had better. Its very poor

on steam I managed 15.5 MBps (124 Mbps) so that's not it, perhaps loads of people were downloading it?
