Re: General chat July
I created a new user account and it stopped the crashing! Looks like the profile was corrupt.
I had a problem with iTunes under a different account name so will create another account under my old name! At least steam works on both user accounts!
I think the files expected the music to be in an exact location which changed under a new user name, if you can follow all that, welcome to the fun world of PC's!

Re: General chat July
finally passed the 70,000 Gamerscore on 360 the other day, the number of games I have it should be much more than that. That's the problem with having several systems you spread your time out between systems

Re: General chat July
well I finally refreshed my Windows 8 laptop, it was complaining about installation files, must have deleted them, so I went back to the windows store link via my email message and re-downloaded 8. The refresh then worked!
Time will tell if it solved my problem
It kept my docs and music but deleted my programs such as steam and my security software! This may be a cleaner install than the original windows 7 to 8 upgrade
If this works properly then the software refresh idea in windows 8 is a great idea. I usually recommend a reinstall at least once a year to get rid of junk and such
Normally you would use a 3rd party program to do what this tool does. When I was at college 13 years ago they refreshed all the computers using 3rd party software about time windows had the function built in!
Hopefully this will solve my issues if not could be a hardware problem!

Re: General chat July
Working loads at the moment. Happy to do as much overtime as I can so that the cash goes into my "next gen" fund.
Picked up a vita from work yesterday for £100. Didn't have to get any games due to having uncharted, gravity rush, unit 13, and a few others all free on PlayStation Plus. Was going to get one with the PS4 anyway so it was just a matter of time.

PS Vita is a great system, Little Big Planet is just as good on Vita as PS3!
Downloaded Unit 13 and Ninja Gaiden s plus the other day, bought a 32 GB memory card a few months ago as I found the 4GB one was extremely limiting

I am struggling to save any cash for the next gen, getting a little worried that I may not be able make launch.

Went to Mallard 75 today in York http://www.nrm.org.uk/PlanaVisit/Events/mallard75.aspx Its 75 years since the Mallard broke the speed record for steam and took the record away from the Germans! Put some pics up on facebook. I have never seen a museum as busy as this was today!

Re: General chat July
finally completed Fallout 3 on PS3, including all DLC, so that's now complete on all 3 systems! Big fan Fallout games. PS3 seems to suffer with the engine used in the game, though, which was the same for Fallout NV and Skyrim. Hopefully those issues wont affect next gen Fallout games!

Re: General chat July
my laptop kept crashing last night as I tried to install a game from steam so I switched it off and shook the laptop, seems to be ok now (I hope). I have this horrible suspicion it may be an issue I have had years ago on a PC, where the wire to the hard drive is slightly loose which means when it stops it crashes the system.
Looks like a case for Dr Willow to investigate!

Ooh on a laptop that is slightly harder to fix then on a PC! Apart from a dead laptop i had which the hard drive was so easy to reach and fix a faulty wire as it constantly fell out onto the floor! :L
Re: General chat July
looks like I can pull the back off if needed. Does seem to be running better! perhaps I've solved it this time?
on another note I am now down to 4 items on my steam wish list! one of those games is not out yet!
I always enjoy these sales and its good for developers as well as some games that people may have forgotten get publicised more!
obviously newer games don't get as steep a cut, once they have made the money they can sell new copies dead cheap to rack up sales and loads of money! just need one more summer trading card for the badge, keep getting loads of cards but all of them I already have!

I think a Lego Back to the Future game could be great, as there is a Lego set now http://www.digitalspy.co.uk/movies/news/a499291/lego-back-to-the-future-time-machine-delorean-set-launches.html?utm_source=tw&utm_medium=dsuk&utm_campaign=twdsuk

well I opened her up and it did not look loose (the hard drive), pulled it out put it back in again! there is also space for a 2nd drive so may get another drive as a secondary drive or to take over this one

Just finished assassins creed 2 for the first time. Downloaded it for free and completed it within 10 days! Enjoyed it even though the ending was really weird!
Re: General chat July
i did the same Kam, i dont really like 3rd person games other than GTA so was surprised at how much i enjoyed it!
from what i have read the ending is done just to set up the next game, im tempted to buy or hopefully borrow others in the series....
all in all a very enjoyable game
